EKG & Sports Physicals
Keeping Young Athletes Safe and Ready to Play
During your child’s sports physical, we will:
- Evaluate overall health and fitness for sports and school activities
- Identify any potential risk factors or warning signs
- Offer guidance on injury prevention and safe participation
- Meet school, camp, or team medical requirements
Participating in sports is a wonderful way for children to stay active, build confidence, and develop lifelong healthy habits. At Pediatric Services 360, we want every young athlete to feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed. Sports physicals are incorporated to routine well-child visit after the age of 12 years. It allows us to make sure your child’s body is prepared for physical activity and that no underlying health concerns put them at risk during active play, training or competition.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida law will require all incoming high school freshmen (grade 9) to have an electrocardiogram (EKG) as part of their sports clearance.
At Pediatric Services 360, we are proud to say that we’ve already been ahead of this change! For years, our team has strongly advocated for heart-health screening and has routinely performed EKGs for all patients ages 12 and older during their physicals. We fully support this new requirement and will continue providing these screenings to ensure every athlete is safe and ready to play.
Even when a sports physical isn’t required, annual physicals remain an important part of your child’s preventive care. They give families the opportunity to review growth, development, and any new concerns with a trusted pediatric provider.
